CROSSLAKE — The Uppgaard Wildlife Management Area between Pequot Lakes and Crosslake will resume guided tours on Wednesdays, June 5 until September.

The guided tours will begin at 9:30 a.m. and go for about an hour or more, according to the participants' interests. Meet at the entrance to the Uppgaard WMA on the south side of County Road 16, four miles west of Crosslake.

Children and adults are welcome to join the tours where they can imagine how Native Americans fed, clothed and sheltered themselves on the surrounding land, and what it would be like to survive in the forest today.

The tour will highlight the house, food sources and pathways of a local beaver family.

Native wildflowers, trees and birds are abundant. There may be mushrooms along the path, which will offer the chance to learn their role in supporting the health of the forest.

The Uppgaard WMA is open for walking year-long.
