Foreigner finally feeling the Rock Hall love

The band will be inducted into the Rock Hall on Oct. 19 in Cleveland. Foreigner, the band behind some of the 1980s' biggest rock hits, will perform at Blossom Music Center with co-headliner Styx on Wednesday night before being inducted into the Rock Hall during a ceremony on Oct. 19. This is Foreigner's first nomination for the Rock HOF despite being eligible since 2003. The band finished second in the fan vote behind Dave Matthews Band. The next step is to decide which of its hits will be played at the October ceremony.

Foreigner will finally know what Rock & Roll Hall of Fame love is. Driving the news: The band behind some of the 1980s' biggest rock hits will perform at Blossom Music Center with co-headliner Styx on Wednesday night.

• Foreigner will also be inducted into the Rock Hall during a ceremony at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Oct. 19.

The intrigue: Foreigner earned its first nomination for the Rock Hall this year despite being eligible since 2003.

• Public support was certainly there as Foreigner finished second in the annual fan vote behind Dave Matthews Band.

What they're saying: "It was a relief," lead singer Lou Gramm said upon learning of the Foreigner's induction.

• "We have been eligible for a good long time and we were wondering if we'd ever be in."

What's next: Foreigner must decide which of its hits — "I Want to Know What Love Is," "Hot Blooded" and "Cold as Ice" among them — to play at the October ceremony.

If you go: Tickets for Wednesday's show start at $33.
