Vicksburg High's defense made a goal line stand as time expired Friday to preserve a season-saving 28-26 victory over Cleveland Central. Vicksburg High High football coach Christopher Lacey led his team to a 28-26 victory over Cleveland Central, keeping their playoff hopes alive. The victory, along with Florence's 15-14 upset of Lanier, moved four teams within a game of each other in the Region 2-5A playoff race. Despite Cleveland Central's Kyle Mitchell running for three touchdowns, Vicksburg responded with 28 straight points. The team has won three of its last four games and is closing at home next week and against Holmes County Central.
