City of Cleveland lays out traffic and parking plans for eclipse

The City of Cleveland released its traffic and parking plans for the much anticipated April 8th total solar eclipse. The city's Route 2 Westbound ramps will be closed at I-90 and other ramps to the Shoreway will remain open in both directions. The Cleveland Municipal Lot will open at 5:00 am, with each parker charged $50.00 per space, and will have open pit fires, propane grills, alcohol, saving spaces prohibited, and littering will be dispensed in trash containers. The Canal Parking lot will also be open for parking at a special event rate of $50 per space. The Willard garage and surface lot will open with a parking rate of €60.00, and there will be no overnight parking prohibited. The City's parking rules will be strictly enforced by the Cleveland Division of Police, with violators facing fines and ejection from premises.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The City of Cleveland released its traffic and parking plans for the much anticipated April 8th total solar eclipse.

The following road closure and parking information are subject to change as needed, according to the press release.

• None Alfred Lerner Way/Erieside will be closed from W 3rd to E 9th. There will still be access to the Great Lakes Science Center garage from W 3rd St.

• None E 9th North of Erieside will be closed; both sides of E 9th Street from Erieside to the cul-de-sac will be a food truck zone.

• None St. Clair and Lakeside will be a No Parking/No Stopping Zone from W 9th to E 9th.

• None W 3rd, W 6th, and W 9th will be No Parking/No Stopping zones North of Superior.

• None Huron and Prospect west of E 9th to Ontario will also be No Parking/No Stopping zones.

• None W 25th from the Shoreway to Lorain will be a No Parking/No Stopping zone.

• None W 25th from Clark to I-71 will be a No Parking/No Stopping zone. (hospital access)

• None Euclid Ave from Chester to Mayfield will be a No Parking/No Stopping zone. (hospital access)

Cleveland Municipal Lot - 1500 South Marginal Road The Cleveland Municipal lot will open beginning at 5:00 am. Each parker will be charged $50.00 per space. The lot will have port johns and trash receptacles available for the convenience of parkers. Tailgating rules and regulations will be in place for the protection and convenience of all patrons. Violation of these rules and regulations may result in fines and ejection from the premises. These rules are strictly enforced by the Cleveland Division of Police.

1. No open pit fires 2. No propane or charcoal grills 3. No alcohol 4. Saving spaces prohibited 5. You will be charged for all parking spaces you and your guest occupy 6. No in and out privileges 7. All litter must be dispensed in trash containers 8. Vandalism of any type will not be tolerated 9. Crossing the shoreway is prohibited 10. No private latrines / portable restrooms 11. Lanes must remain clear of activity at all times. 12. Monthly parking card holders will utilize their monthly parking card Customers with monthly parking cards will have access to the Municipal lot using their monthly parking card prior to noon. Willard Garage and Surface Lot – 601 Lakeside Avenue The Willard garage and surface lot will be open at 5:00 am. The parking rate is $60.00. Overnight parking is prohibited. There will be no tailgating allowed in the garage or on the surface lot. Customers with monthly parking cards will be allowed to enter and exit the garage using their monthly parking card. The Canal Parking lot – 1519 Merwin Avenue The Canal Parking lot will be open and available for parking at the special event rate of $50.00 per space at 12:01 am April 8th. Parkers will be required to pay at one of the two pay stations conveniently located on the lot. Tailgating activities are permitted on this lot. The lot will have port johns and trash receptacles available for the convenience of parkers. Tailgating rules and regulations will be in place for the protection and convenience of all patrons.
