CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Crowne Plaza Hotel Airport will be horror central from June 20-23 when the 13th annual International Horror Hotel Film Festival takes over. Everyone who appreciates horror, slasher, fantasy, action, martial arts, and scifi film genres is welcome at the four-day scare fest.
This year marks the greatest number of submissions in the festival’s 13-year history.
“We received over 230-plus films from around the world,” said co-manager Tyler N. Thomas, in a press release. “It was a lot of work, with over 23-plus judges working tirelessly to score these films/scripts within two months.”
Thomas is one of the new owners of the film festival. Other new owners are local, award-winning filmmakers, including Scott T. Morrison, Pauline Nowakowski, Tinna Hobbs, Gaines Strouse, Scott E. Brosius, and Johnny K. Wu.
“With new owners, we have decided to start with a bang, bringing known experts from around the nation to Cleveland providing lectures,” said Wu.
“Anyone interested in the above genres should come and check out the films from all around the world,” he said. “Anyone interested in an opportunity to be in future projects should use this time to socialize and network. And anyone interested to learn more about filmmaking should attend the lectures.”
The lectures include presentations by distributors and an Oscar-nominated team member talking about AI Filmmaking as well as AI and intellectual properties experts, scriptwriters, directors, cinematographers and more.
In addition to lectures and film screenings, the festival has a convention area where vendors will sell products and services. A networking event on June 22 gives filmmakers an opportunity to get to know each other.
For the first time, the festival includes the Room 237 Film Competition. Filmmakers who enter the competition may win cash prizes and have their films shown Friday.
