State Sen. Jerry Cirino discusses achievements, looks ahead

Jerry Cirino, R-Kirtland,… State Sen. Jerry Cirino, who served in the 136th Ohio General Assembly and second term as chair of the Senate Finance Committee, has highlighted his achievements, including creating a $90.5 billion budget for the state and supporting education programs. He also sponsored the Advance Ohio Higher Education Act (Senate Bill 1), which aims to ensure intellectual diversity and free speech on campus, hold professors more accountable, and empower university leaders to navigate the changing landscape of higher education. Cirino voted to pass major reforms to Ohio’s property tax laws, saving taxpayers $2 billion over three years. He co-sponsored Senate Bill 35, which recognizes “supported decision-making” as an alternative to guardianship for adults with a developmental disability. The funding for these projects was approved in the previous capital budget.
