University Hospitals Cleveland Takes Systems Offline After Unusual Server Activity
University Hospitals disconnected its systems after a cyberattack scare — and MyChart still isn't back. University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, has temporarily disconnected its computer systems from the internet due to unusual server activity. The move was taken as a precaution and may lead to digital-service disruptions for several more days, although University Hospitals maintains there has been no impact on patient care. The timing of the incident comes as Quest Diagnostics, which provides outpatient laboratory services at University Hospital locations, disclosed its own cybersecurity incident earlier this month. University Hospics has not confirmed whether its server incident is connected to the Quest Diagnostic breach. Quest has also temporarily suspended access to its Essential Insights and LabHQ systems as a safety precaution. The incident has not significantly disrupted Quest's business operations or its ability to serve physicians and patients.
