CLEVELAND — Akron police are looking for a suspect after a man was injured in a shooting early Thursday morning, authorities said.

According to an Akron Police Department spokesperson, officers responded to a shooting on Fuller Street at around 4:37 a.m. when they were notified that there was a shooting victim at a residence on Weeks Street. Detectives believe "unknown suspects" approached the residence and began shooting.

Police say "there appeared to have been an exchange of gunfire that resulted in the victim being struck" after the initial shots.

The victim, a 35-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital with a neck injury that is not believed to be life-threatening.

No other injuries were reported, police said. A car and a nearby home were hit with gunfire during the exchange.

Police recovered shell casings and other evidence from the scene. Detectives still working on determining the "exact circumstances" of the shooting and identifying the suspects.

Akron police asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the department's detective bureau at (330) 375-2490.
