BEREA, Ohio -- It took seven years, but edge rusher Myles Garrett accomplished a goal that he had set since being the overall No. 1 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Browns. He was voted the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.

As the reigning winner of the award, the bar is set higher now and Garrett will want to have another strong season. Garrett had 14 sacks, which was not his highest total, but he had an overall, strong season in leading the Browns top-ranked defense. Garrett was the focal point by most opponents in weekly game preparations.

However, Garrett said he has his eyes set on another goal.

"God willing, can build on the success that we had last year but have everyone be healthy and go win the Super Bowl," he said. "(That's) where my eyes are only."

Garrett said he will not be satisfied to rest on his laurels.

"Never," he said. "Never be enough. And I might feel a little bit of satisfaction once we win (a Super Bowl) for Cleveland, but then this is always the next year not going to stop until the body tells me it's time to hang them up until I stop having fun, stop loving this game and wanting to be in here with my teammates to all that stage. I'm going to be in here giving my all and just trying to do my best to improve this team."

Garrett said at this point of his career, it's not about his personal goals or legacy, anymore, but about winning a championship.

"Don't care about legacy. I want it for the city. I want it for those guys in there. My legacy. It'll speak for itself once it's said and done, but I want it for those guys because they deserve, they go out there every single day and earn it by working hard, by putting in the time, getting up early, leaving late and it takes those kind of leaders every single day to really see that what we're doing is special and we want to show that we can sustain this for an entire year and build something special."
